Seems a bit ironic for them to be talking about something being too expensive...
Perhaps they mean they've spent so much on 103/502/4472/60103, they don't have any more to spend on anything else. Whereas actually, I bet that 4468 is probably in much better condition, since it was only steamed for a few years in the 80s; wasn't it.

Hi Schnellzug,
I suppose your right about Mallard being in a better condition. It has been steamed less so it probably is in better condetion.
