From what a friend who commutes from Workington - Carlisle has said, all services are free between Workington and Maryport.

He was surprised this morning when he was - he thought - undercharged but was told the applicable fare was Maryport - Carlisle.

I paid a visit yesterday, primarily to ride and photograph the drs locos. As stated travel between maryport and workington is free on all services. Local people had nothing but praise for the railservices and the way in which the new station and extra services have been added.

Only downfall is after they have have been riding in lovely mk3s will they really want to go back to units:D:D

Q:

I'm travelling from Durham to Barrow-in-Furness in December, leaving before Christmas some point and returning before New Years.

A return between the two is £33 with a YP railcard; a return from Durham to Maryport and from Workington to BIF comes to £31.75 in total. I'm not going to mess around for the sake of £1.25, but in theory would I be able to buy the latter tickets and take the option of free travel between Maryport and Workington?
