Flockton Flyer rerun.

Just a heads up that the children’s tv series The Flockton Flyer is showing on Talking Pictures TV, weekdays at 10:30am. Starts tomorrow Monday 1st December.

There were two series and twelve episodes in total. Note that series two was known as Flockton Flyer, with “The” bring dropped from the title. Talking Pictures TV previously aired the series back in 2015, I’m not sure if its’ been shown since then.

Thanks. I remember the title, have watched the first three so far and can’t remember seeing it before, on its original run in the seventies I would have been 11 or 12.

I think an industrial tank named 'Vulcan' also appeared in the second series.

Victor and Vulcan were a pair of 0-6-0 tank engines that were bought by the WSR from the Austin factory at Longbridge for the reopening of the line. They were mainstays of the early years but weren't suitable for the longer trips that became the norm as the line was extended, and were sold on when ex BR locos became available.

According to Wiki series 2 featured a Peckett 0-4-0. Called “Little Beauty “ it appeared in the final episode. I don’t remember this so I’ll have to watch this episode.

There was a Peckett 0-4-0ST on the WSR in the late seventies, P1163, but its name was 'Whitehead' I think. May have been renamed for the filming of course?

Yes, I was 6 and liked it because it had trains in.
In the same way I remember seeing the Last of the Summer Wine episode Full Steam Ahead as a youngster and laughed myself silly when they got covered in steam and soot. I still enjoy seeing that episode now but have a tendency to pick fault with the artistic liberties taken.
