How does the Yutong GTe12's do the cross border routes (010, 030 etc.)? I know that Ember's Yutong GTe14's can do Edinburgh to Aberdeen round trip (which is 240 miles), but these routes are alot longer so I wonder how it is done.

It’s done with a diesel engine!

I have some thoughts about my journey today.

077 Ran By Watts Coaches- Rocked up to Bristol Bus n Coach station and it was there waiting. Left on time and got to Birmingham early. Feel bad for the passengers sat in front of me as they had to put their seats back upright. Seat reservations were mostly enforced though I wish they'd do without them.

070 Ran by First West of England- Rocked up to Birmingham about 10 minutes late(no worse than what I'm used to on their stagecarriage work tbh). The loading and unloading process was chaotc to say the least, Flixbus need to consider hiring staff at busy stops to help with luggage and tickets, Even Megabus managed that under both Stagecoach And Comfort DelGro. Left 20 minutes late because of of the whole Boarding process. Seat Reservations are not being enforced which again goes back to my question about why Flix deems them necessary in the first place. Know the driver though but I don't think he recognised me.

I thought they where electric, my bad.

I only just found out Yutong do diesel products after a Google around, I have never been up close to them so I just assumed that they where electric like Ember.
I'm on one as we speak, I quite like them tbh. I can see how the seats being close together can cause issues though, but I'm 5'3 so no such issues for me!

I have only used 2 Flixbus journeys in the past (090 Glasgow to Edinburgh & 094 Edinburgh to Perth), I generally prioritise using them when planning my trips so I can learn more about the operator on the ground and what the coaches are like (as I have used Ember & Scottish Citylink many times), but the both I have been on where the Volvo 9700's so I just need to be persistent.

Flixbus do have 'station agents' at Glasgow and London Victoria. Not sure you could really base someone at Birmingham though given it's just a random roadside bus stop and there would be no facilities for staff at all.

Which Flix routes from Uk to Europe use double decker coaches?
Usually the service towards Frankfurt, but the Amsterdam service can on rare occasions. The only way to be certain is via the seat reservation map when booking. I have never known the Paris service to be.

As has been said, there are staff at places such as London Victoria, but their job is purely for the management of the services coming in and out, and providing information to the customers in the case of a delay. Flixbus states on its website that drivers can help with putting luggage on the bus, but other than that, it is the passengers' responsibility.

I think most of the services are Yutongs now. You would be lucky to get the merc.

Is there an issue with the display boards on the Firstbus Yutongs - around Bristol and the M4 this morning, most of them (in service) are running with nothing on the display?

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: ==

First (WoE) seems to be cancelling a minimum of one flixbus service per day - are they short of vehicles or staff?

Given how regularly cancellations are mentioned on this thread, is anyone here still taking a chance with Flixbus?

Apparently they are using agency drivers to cover if that helps answer the question.
That would track with a normal service bus I got the other day - Trying to buy a ticket from Temple Meads to near the bus station, the driver said he didn’t know the area so it was free. I wonder how understaffed they are…

The 045/049 are a lot nicer vehicle wise than the NX down in the SouthWest as well as typically winning on price so it is my go to…

Noticed on McGills Yutongs a few weeks back, the display boards were blank.

I recall being served - on multiple occasions - this advertisement for illustrious travel to the beautiful destination of Harthill Services!
Yes, I have seen them adverts. They are AI/auto generated.

NX still sing older coaches on SW routes?

I find NX more comfortable to the tight legroom of the Yutongs personally.

Park's have an advert for 12 mk2 Levantes coming for sale in the new year.
Presume replacement Levante's due at Parks of Plymouth before year end.

Don't forget that people will post bad experiences more than they will post the good stress free ones.

You can go through all of the Flixbus 'trip tracker' for the past 2 days and see any delays and cancellations. Delays are a bit iffy sometimes as Flix trackers aren't always the best but you get the general idea of reliability of the network or your specific routes.

But you almost never hear about National Express cancellations. There is a massive difference in that respect. And National Express don't email you to inform that the times of your coach have changed.

Yeah there’s 3 (I think) Levante 3’s used by parks across the south west.. the rest being Levante 2’s that are pretty knackered at this point, and less comfortable. I find the flixbus is more comfortable and still cheaper even when booked the extra seat

Although saying that, First West of England + First South West have cancelled a minimum of 1 bus daily recently

What is everyones thoughts on the seat reservations on Flixbus?

Do you prefer to have them or not?
When I see the new 066 service around Stratford, it’s not doing particularly well. Most buses are pretty empty and the service isn’t being well advertised. I think it will be withdrawn sooner rather than later.

I've been doing a trial run of commuting *to* Stratford on this route for the last couple of weeks. It seems to leave Cambridge with about a dozen people, deposit most of them at Stratford, and then pick up about another dozen. If they've paid much the same as what I have then we're not paying for the driver and diesel, let alone a share of the cost of a c£200k coach! (even ignoring a cut for FlixBus).

In theory it has much to commend it against the train: In advance it's about the same price as the train, closer to the time it's often much cheaper. You can get on and sit down and fall asleep and not worry about changing. Even if you accept that the timetabled journey time is "ambitious" it's not going to be much slower than the train. The seats are about the same as those on the train. It introduces two new departure points that may be more, as or less convenient than the two stations depending on you. Sure the M11 will go to pot about once a month, but then so does the West Anglia Mainline, so whatever (and you'll be sitting on the bus, rather than risking getting turfed off a train at Stortford or something).

The two things that kill it for me:

- I was not expecting the departures from Cambridge to be so unreliable. I assumed that it would be the first coach of the day and that it would generally leave on time. It's once been nearly on time, and it's been up to 25m late. You also can't track this delay and have no idea if the coach is on the way / where it is.
- They are surprisingly aggressive towards people that refuse to reserve seats. They will absolutely put you in an aisle seat next to a random stranger on an otherwise empty bus. However I am not going to pay to reserve a seat as suddenly it is more expensive than an advance ticket on the train. This is even before considering that a surprising number of seats have suspicious stains and a random seat may not be where you want to sit!

And the thing that may kill it for other people:
- How are you supposed to know it exists? I'm on their rader for targetted FB ads, and I keep getting AI nonsense like adverts for Harthill Services or random stops by fields in Europe. We know it exists because we're into that kind of thing. But Joe Public can't even put "Stratford" into the Flixbux Website! They're target market is people that know to go onto their website and think they'd be willingto take a coach to London even though they secretly wanted to / are willing to go to Stratford instead. Really?
- It really is running quite late; sometimes close to 1 hour late.
- I'm also surprised by the quality of the maintenance of the coaches. As well as suspicious stains on seats and surfaces just often not well presented I've had a seat that wasn't securely bolted to the floor and a seat stuck in moving between reclining and not reclining mode.

Someone in this thread said Evri of coaches. That's what I'm feeling.

Park's have 8 Levante 3s in Plymouth.
They also have 11 Levante 2s based in Plymouth and 1 at Hamilton (LSK870 in Citylink livery).

So all 12, Levante 2s due to leave in early 2026.
Allegedly the first Levante 3As on a Volvo chassis are due.

Morning everyone.

Could we please keep this thread on the subject of Flixbus where possible please, rather than moving into National Express etc.

Thanks!

Who runs the 066 and where is there depot?

i thought seats were allocated if you did not reserve them.

Cozys Coaches.

I think Gingerheid means that they will not pay to reserve specific seats and is saying that if you do not pay to reserve a specific seat, it it puts you in an aisle seat next to a stranger.
Yes, I have seen that on the rails too. I was once on a 079 Flixbus and everyone was sitting in the back half of the coach!

The only seats drivers do seem to get sniffy about if you aren't booked to sit there is the front seats. Several times I've been on services where they've been empty but been instructed not to sit there.

Some drivers are more flexible about it than others though.

A lot of drivers prefer these seats to remain empty for numerous reasons.

I’m new to flixbus and booked a single back from Glasgow to Dundee in November, anyone know what bus stance it departs from Buchanan Bus Station? (my thoughts was one of the stances in line with Ember/Citylink), but looking on bus times it’s not listed at these stances (it’s highlighted in the middle of the station!) any help would be appreciated!
