Hi,
On the 22nd November I will need to travel to Milton Keynes Central to connect with the 1050 service. However, I will need to arrive at MKC by 1030 as I need to meet a large group that I am travelling on the 1050 service with.

I just wanted to ask the easiest way to travel to MKC for 1030 is - I would prefer not to travel on the 0812 service out of Flitwick as it means waiting at MKC for over an hour!

I am also aware that there is a coach service from Luton to Milton Keynes - does anyone know how much it costs for a single (I have a 16-25 railcard if it makes a difference)?

I also don't mind travelling via London if the times are more convenient - I have travelled via London before when the Bedford - Bletchley services were cancelled and we got home quicker!

Thanks in advance

There is a coach run on behalf of Virgin Trains, allegedly operated by Stagecoach, from Luton at 0915 arriving MKC at 1000. This allows you to leave Flitwick at 0850.

Thanks for the replys so far.

I dont suppose anyone knows the fares for the coach? If I remember correctly, a few years ago a through ticket to MKC with the coach included was available from Flitwick, this doesnt seem to be shown on the National Rail site so im guessing it isnt available anymore.

Unless you are hellbent on travelling by train I would actually enquire of a local cab firm as to how much it would cost from Flitwick to MK. Would imagine it to be around the £15 to £20 mark and would probably take no more than 20 minutes.

ive been told virgin pulled out of the vt99 service, it is now run by stagecoach in stagecoach branded veichels and is now service 99, not sure if train tickets are still valid. Although it should be a coach is not unknown for a dart or olympian to deputise.

Virgin no longer have anything to do with the bus. The VT99 moniker is a relic.

It's now operated by Stagecoach in entirety.

Through rail tickets are still valid.

....Through rail tickets are still valid.

According to the FRPP only tickets to or from 'Luton Bus MK' or 'Luton Air Bus' are valid on the bus.

The add-on fares are £5.20 single or £9.50 Return for an adult so I'd imagine the 'on the bus' fare to be similar.

Thanks for the help, I have decided to get a single to Bedford and then to get the X5 coach to MKC as the coaches run every 30 mins and the fare is only £6.50.
