Flint to Cardiff

Can anyone tell me how to split a ticket for a return to cardiff at the best price.
Doesn't need to be flexible date is 13th of november and would like to leave on the 8am train.

Is this a Day Return?

This isn't really my area but I'll have a go.

I am assuming a day return.

Flint - Gobowen SDR £8.60
Gobowen -Cwmbran SVR £34.00
Cwmbran-Cardiff SDR £6.50

Total = £49.10

A saving of £8.20 compared to the through fare of £57.30 Off Peak Return (SVR) which is valid on any permitted route and is valid for returning any day within 1 month.

The through fare is more flexible.

Bizarrely, Flint -Gobowen is cheaper than Flint - Chirk!

Splitting at Shrewsbury gives £47.70 for a day return, £55.8 for a period return, both valid on any train.

I can't see any advance tickets available for that train.
