flickr and google

A couple of months ago i started uploading some of my photos onto flickr. I was disappointed that I wasn't able to find them on google once I had uploaded them. However, I thought it might take a while to register them onto the search engine.
Since then, and a couple if months on, they are still not appearing in google search images! Does anyone know why this is and how it can be rectified please?

I'm not sure how easy it is to implement on Flickr but you should read up on Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).

You need to make sure the images are Named, Tagged and Described for Googles bots to pick them up, even then it's pot luck especially if the pictures are of something common.

I didn't realise there was one or more ways to register? I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing! I've uploaded about 200 pics so far and even when i put the number, location and date exactly as it's stated on flickr on any picture, it usually says "no image found" or similar in the search engine!

I always make sure that my pictures are named and described. THey are not tagged; but thinking about it it depends on how you mean exactly by named, tagged and described!

For best results you need to title, describe, tag and geotag your pictures. This is my most recent one http://www.flickr.com/photos/darlo2009/11750586644/ You can see the tags etc on the page. Having sets for your pictures also helps. My sets are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/darlo2009/sets

I find that having a convention for my tags helps as you just use the same one each time. I also use uploadr rather than the Flickr upload tool as i find it easier to add all the detail on that layout. Uploadr here: http://www.flickr.com/tools/uploadr/

Once you have a few pictures from the same place or type and you have sorted out your convention you can use the organise section on Flickr to cut and paste your tags into uploadr. Always remember to use "xxxx xxxx" if your tag is multiple words. This software also allows you to place your pictures into your sets or groups really quickly.

You also need to check you are allowing public searches. Go to settings - privacy & permissions - hide your stuff from public searches. Set to no. This may well be the root of your issue.

Finally once you have tagged your pictures try the search location name Flickr and see what happens.
