Does anyone know of any numbers out there (or better, pie charts) that show how the composition of the mainline fleet has changed over time?
For example, the proportion of Diesel, Steam, Electric locomotives, plus EMU/DMU at ten year intervals (1960,70,80,90,2000,2010)
Would also be interesting to see how the number of different types/class has varied over time.
