Is a Fleet- Cheltenham Spa Super Off-Peak Single valid to start short at Basingstoke and end short at Bristol Temple Meads, when travelling via Reading and Swindon? I understand that this ticket permits break of journey.

The online journey planners are showing this as valid, and I believe it is permitted courtesy of maps BB + LG (assuming Basingstoke is an appropriate routeing point for Fleet).

The question seems to revolve around whether Basingstoke is indeed an appropriate routeing point for Fleet, which I'm not sure about.

The FGW journey planner doesn't show it as valid - not even via Bristol Parkway let alone Temple Meads
So pass

Fleet-Cheltenham SOS "not via london" is £63.00, Basingstoke-Cheltenham SOS "not via london" is £81 so I think Basingstoke would fail the fares-check rule to be a routeing point.

I agree. The only Fleet - Cheltenham flexible fares are route Not Via London. Basingstoke - Cheltenham has route Not Via London, route Via Salisbury and route Via Stroud. The only comparable route is Not Via London.

We are allowed to compare SOS, SDS, SVS or CDS fares. Two pairs of fares can be compared:
  • Fleet - Cheltenham route "Not Via London": SOS £63.00, SVS £26.50.
  • Basingstoke - Cheltenham route "Not Via London": SOS £81.00, SVS £37.00.
In each case, the fare from Basingstoke is higher than the fare from the origin to the destination, so Basingstoke is not an appropriate Routeing Point for this journey.
