Marked the final, final end of class 87 passenger workings on the WCML. 87002 worked the 1651 Euston-New St and 1930 return, and at 2054 departed Euston with the empties for Wembley with a small crowd of 30 or so cranks who had enjoyed a storming last run into Euston there to take it in as '002 departed into the fog with a couple of blasts on the horn and a round of applause.
A typically understated finale for the class - superb.

Still, if you'd have said to me then that five years later the only (public) 87 workings would be in Bulgaria I'd have given you long odds, but 87004 and 87006 have done the honours in 2011, a true change from the WCML in every single way!

... i remember the last trips they made that day i was stood in a field somewhere and i also fondly recall bashing my favourite 87 031 many times between Crewe and Warrington.
