Sure it may be a bit childish, but GWR really need to sort themselves out at the moment. The service over the last 6 months or so, especially on Sundays, has simply been appalling. They do not have enough staff and so many Sunday services are just being cancelled, with no alternatives provided. Hell, today the last two Swansea - Paddington trains are being cancelled, and GWR are saying on Twitter that buses will not be provided, taxis will not be provided and hotel costs will only be "considered". And that is before you look at the situation with short formation of a huge number of services on a regular basis (how long must it go on before "more trains in for repair than usual" actually becomes the new usual?). They may want to consider sorting this mess out before trying to do some advertising!

The poor rail service situation was actually mentioned in commentary on the Swansea vs Spurs match today.

Can we also have “Five terminate short at Worcester Shrub Hill” and “Five try to find reserved seats on a two-car Turbo” :D

Public transport has always been the butt of jokes. If I had a pound for every time I heard "Network SouthEast - we're NOT getting there" in the 1980s I would be living in a bigger flat.

Are they allowed to do that? I was under the impression that if TOCs cancel services at short notice they have to arrange alternatives.

I remember the old British Rail poster with the "We're getting there" slogan. Underneath, in brackets, some wag had added "but we're not taking you with us".

I don't know if this, if they see it, will unseal the lips of the GWR hierarchy to apologise for and tell us publically something of the problems and offer some explanations. We have had this problem with shortages of traincrews, not just confined to the Cotswolds, for several months now and another major problem is one of short formed trains and explained on Journey Check and Twitter feed as being "More trains than usual needing repairs", this having been on a daily basis for approximately 9 months now and has now become the norm rather than "more than usual". The traincrew issue turns travel plans into a lottery every Saturday and Sunday and has now spread into the week. Many people are aware of the reasons but feel that an explanation for what can only be described as an atrocious service for so long should come from the top, if only to gain a little respect from their customers. I can recall in the past when, following a bad day, a press release has been issued and flyers left on train seats apologising and explaining the delays to journeys. E-Mails sent direct to the MD requesting a statement just seem to be replied to by Customer Services, saying they will reply in due course. This would be the customary "cut and paste reply". What have those at the top got to lose other than respect by keeping quiet about the quality of service.
