Does anyone know if there’s a more permanent solution coming for the york metro deckers? I assume all these depots will be wanting their repowers at some point, will there be more fleet movements around the country to balance the displacement to york out? Or will a new fleet of buses be ordered / current fleets expanded?

Well all of the Metrodeckers have been removed off Bustimes fleetlist. The reason was given as follows:

Fleet manager has confirmed all of these busses are returning to the manufacture for a fix. It has now been agreed First York are to have replacement vehicles and these buses will not return to York. These are removed from site and not coming back.

University Of York services will return to their term-time timetable and there will be changes to early morning U1 & U2 services from 13th September:

From Sunday 13 September 2026, selected early morning journeys on services U1 and U2 will start from York Railway Station instead of Merchantgate, improving connections for passengers travelling between rail services and the University.

At the same time, all University services will return to their regular term-time timetable, last operated before 6 June 2026.

As a result, York Park & Ride services return to their normal timetable from the same date:

Our temporary uplifted summer timetable comes to an end on Sunday 13 September 2026, with all six York Park & Ride services returning to their standard operating timetables.

This means services 2/2A, 3, 7, 8, 9 and 59 will return to the timetables that were in place before the summer service uplift began in July.

Weaver Network will primarily use brand new buses at Weaver Network spec. However, some of the existing fleet will be used (likely the Electroliner fleet in Leeds as an example) and buses like this E400 in Halifax will move elsewhere.
