The WDTG are running 3 days of Loco Haulage on the cheese line 2nd-4th May.
This is to celebrate the signal box restoration being completed and also coincides with the popular "Festival of Food and Drink" at Leyburn.
The festival have a web site http://www.dalesfestivaloffood.org/
Plenty for all the family and local food and real ales.
Traction is TBC but 47715 will be in action. If the expected visitors don't get to us in time then St Mungo might get battered into life again and no doubt 03144 will be doing station pilot duties again for those who need it!
Each day is a 3 return trip diagram Timetable to appear shortly on http://www.wensleydaledtg.co.uk
We hope to see you there, the first of many dates of diesel action on the WR this year in fact probably the most diesel action since we started. Please come and support us and keep the locos in action.
Anyone needing any more info please email me chairman@wensleydaledtg.co.uk

Shortly after Easter the line is expected to take delivery of 20166 (Runner), 08825 (Restoration Project) and a HNRC 37 (??) on a 5 year loan deal. It is hoped that the class 20 will be operational for the above running days the timetable for which can be found on the diary of events page on http://www.wensleydalerailwayassocation.com. 4 Trains a day will operate with the final, later service being stopped at Leyburn requiring top 'n' tail diesel action <D

Once all locomotives mentioned the home fleet will be as follows:

03144 (operational)
08825 (Restoration)
20166 (Operational)
37___ ( ??? )
47703 (Requires Attention)
47715 (Operational)

Just out of curiosity, whats the plan for the "marooned" Class 47 Loco seen by the site of the A1 southbound road widening project which has recently began at Leeming?

Dont know exactly what happened to those carriages and 47 loco next to A1 at Dishforth / Sinderby. The carriages were taken one-by-one on low-loader ( I saw one heading A1 south 6 April ??) but the loco remained there until approx 12 May ??. They were Mk2's coaches I believe and probably full of asbestos. Next time I drove past, she was gone...!! Cannot remember number but it carried a mock plate 'Institution of Civil Engineers' I recall. Looked in a terrible state I hasten to add. They were in that tractor dealership yard next to A1 for some 15>20 years at a guess! She was not maroon colour..........more a mossy green...?
Someone will be along shortly with details.

Anyway these people seem to be on the case........and so do Booth's at Rotherham..........looks like shes history !! Scrapman gets 'em all in the end..!

There's some more info and pics on 47540's recent (and penultimate?) movements on the 'latest news' page of http://www.wnxx.com/

I've seen her parked there at Sinderby for years - a local dentist bought her about 15 years ago from BR I believe with a view to what I don't know but ironically of course the loco and the MK 2 coaches were stored on the course of what was the main line between Harrogate and Northallerton but nothing was ever done with them.

- a local dentist bought her - ....what...? Just how many patients are there up in that area and how much did he charge them for a fillin'? Just plain loco if you ask me!:(:(

Buying an engine doesn't have to be expensive, sometimes you can pick one up for the cost of a new or relatively new car - it's the costs afterwards that add up. I'm sure the fleet of 40+ coaches which the owner of 47540 has will have cost him more overall, and I hate to think what he has spent on road moves over the years! Incidentally, the nameplate on 47540 (now removed) was the original, not a mock one.

Dentists on average earn £100,000 per year. A six figure sum for being a sadist<(<(<(
