First transpennine conductors- any advice ?

Hi,

I'm currently waiting for a decision after a final interview for a conductors job with first transpennine.
I'm in a bit of a quandary as I've also been offered a position with another employer which is also a great career opportunity.
I really really need to make the right decision and wondered if any of you who are currently conductors with transpennine can offer any advice or information which I can use to help me make the decision IF I get the offer.

What depot?

Been doing it 3 years and I really don't mind coming to work. Wage on average with commission and Sundays 8s around £32k. Overtime is nearly always available and it is a career opportunity on the railway so don't go into it doubtful or half arsed as the training course is VERY intensive with a lot to take in about PTS, safety, the day to day job, revenue, traction and all the rest. But if you're prepared to put the effort in, the training team will help and coach you and help you all the way. Once the course is done and you're qualified and out alone, you're left to manage your train as you wish (within reason) and the level of trust placed in you is pretty high compared to even driving a bus.

I'm currently in a safety critical role which has very similar responsibilities and also involved a very rigid and long training course. I'm only leaving this job as it involves me being away from home for up to a week/ home for 2 or 3 days then away again and I feel I've done it long enough and it's time now to be home more. By home more I mean home to my own house and bed at some point each day.
I just wanted to be sure I make the right choice between the two jobs I'll hopefully have a choice between. The other is with the police (not as police officer) and is also a great opportunity for career development and job security, pension etc. But it's a completely different role where I'd not be out and about dealing with the public face to face which is what I'm used to and am experienced with.
Having worked all manner of unsociable hours in most of my jobs to date I don't know I'd adjust to being in an office type environment working fairly regular hours.

Is it a happy place to work? I mean I know everywhere has its negatives and personalities do sometimes clash, but in general is it a happy company to work for ?
