First use of "red pen" - 150111 (0747)
First new shack - Gathurst (0832)

Top man there! I managed a 'red pen' last year on January 1st, clearing my 322s (thanks to member 37372 on here who provided me with the gen). No plans for any such move this year, although hopefully I'll be getting my first loco haulage of the year in around three hours time.

I'm on an unidentified 185 which I'm taking from Manchester Picc to Edinburgh Waverley, and will be getting Penrith and Lockerbie as new shacks.

Considerably more impressive than my first train last year, which was a sardine special 142 from Heald Green to East Didsbury

First one for me this year was an Inverness Bassed clas 158 on the delayed 10:34 EDB STG, 9 minutes late, freezing cold and a badly behaved pile of brats for company.
Disapointingly however my luck did not improve with 1 of the origional build of 170s up the HML. I do however have hope and it will be 3rd time lucky, I need Georgimas to Wick and the Mrs needs the entire far north line, both of which will be achived by mid day tomorrow.

It was the 17:28 Nottingham to London St. Pancras, although I got off at East Midlands Parkway to get the train back to mansfield.

Hey, there was no way I was having a super sprinter as my first train of the year, again. :D

An unknown 221, 185108, 185131 and an unknown 390 set up my journey today. The 390 had to be held at Oxenholme for all the Prestonians aboard the Windermere shuttle.

The 12.00 VT Pendolino from Euston to Manchester Piccadilly yesterday. Seemed to go by a lot quicker than 2 hours - maybe I've done it too many times.

I'll be on the 1204 HTF-CRE tomorrow, that'll be my first of 2013.

Well, that was my first, albeit about 15 minutes late, but my connection of the 1229 CRE-EUS was not to be!

Still, it was quite a sight to behold on Hartford platform at noon today. They'd just shifted the failed freight train at Acton Bridge and everything was coming through. Must've been at least eight trains through in the 20-odd minutes I was there. Shot myself a few videos whilst I waited. :D

08:19 MKC-RUG, later this morning. Will be the first time I use London Midland northbound avoiding Northampton. Heading for Telford Central, pleased with the £9.55 advanced fare I bought yesterday.

Did you make it okay on this service? There were some horrendous delays yesterday between Crewe and Liverpool due to a broken-down train at Acton Bridge!

Think the above quote awnsers the question..
