These are just loans to test before they go in service in Essex. Not permanently staying iirc

A bit niche but is there any logic to providing routes that only go one way, e.g. the 82 in Sheffield that is outbound down Springfield Road but returns via Dobcroft Road with no service on those roads in the other direction?

In my distant youth, at least the 4 alternated the direction up and down those routes, providing the usual 2-way service.

There could be a number of reasons but often it is on safety grounds. It avoids buses in opposing directions meeting in a narrow road, or it could avoid a turn which may be dangerous, difficult or at risk of vehicles grounding.

On circulars it may be done to allow greater penetration of estates where there may be a higher number of elderly folk. So passengers may board outbound and go around the end loop or vice versa for the other road.

Minor curiosity: has anyone else noticed that on lots of the Streetdecks pressing the stopping button once causes the bell to sound twice? Any idea why it happens?

Ah, you've got the Leeds versions which came with this function, I think they're 67 and 68 plate. It was to ensure the driver knew the bell has been pressed apparently because of the number of instances where a single bell ring is unheard over the noise of a bus.

Interesting, thank you.

It's not just the Leeds ones, the ones from York (low-height variants) do it as well, and I actually noticed it today on one of the MF22 batch (don't know where they've come from, perhaps Bristol?)

It’s to remind the driver it’s been pressed in case the first one wasn’t heard for whatever reason. ADL have a much better bell press but good to see Wright trying.

Ultroliner 35938 has been repainted to Ultraviolet.
...which finally eliminates that short-lived, navy/red York variant of First Urban.

When 35933 is eventually repainted (the last of the low-height StreetDecks at OG not in Ultraviolet), that will remove another livery variant from the local fleet.

There's still a lot of variety at FSY - Olympia, Sheffield Urban, Doncaster Urban, Mainline Urban (those done for the erstwhile X78), Ultraviolet, not to mention the various StreetDecks still in LeedsCity green, the heritage-liveried vehicles - but it's beginning to look better than it was.
