Hello all,

I have just uploaded a video that I was going to put up sometime ago, and have finally got round to it.

It's a ride-on video on First Somerset & Avon's route 234, positioned at the back of the bus to capture the sound of the Volvo B7TL and the cooling fan that was constantly on.

See video description for details.

Enjoy!

James.

Seems to be a first thing. Their "new" buses in Leicester have the exact same problem - fan on high setting even when in the middle of winter. So so loud.

Yet same model with arriva midlands not loud.

Good stuff James; very clear video. Must go on the 234 again at some point...

I have to say, aomng all the S&A routes the 234 seems one of the best for the B7TLs, although I can't figure out why. I assume it runs from the Westbury/Frome outstation? It always seems to have a couple there whenever I pass by on the decker-free 264/5.

The 332 and 337 are the other common ones at present. They really haven't got a clue...

It does say it was filmed on "a hot day in 2010" though ;) The other thing to say is that they aren't new - getting on for nine years old in fact.

i've only been that way once, on an Olympian. Mind you, i've only been to Chippenham once one a bus at all. That was probably enough.

Consider yourself fortunate then. A large number of buses between Bath and Cheapenham are 1994 Lances. It doesn't get much worse than that.

Even worse, two of them - ODZ 8916/7 - have single-leaf doors. (We previously also had ODZ 8915, but it appears to have been sold.)

The low floor ones I'm surprised have lasted this long, it must say something about Wrights, but the Plaxton Verdes, which you don't see so many of about now, were quite fun, i went on the 376 all the way from Bristol to Yeovil in one once. In snow over the hills. :o
