Hey there everone. Ive been looking for a job in the railways for some time now and had no luck. I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice about which jobs are best to go for when you just entering. I was thinking customer related job as ive got experiance.

Any job that directly involves interfacing with the public is always a good start...even more so if it is also safety critical such as disptach staff.

Common entry methods for getting into a TOC seems to be Station Staff, Ticketing Staff Cleaner etc etc.

Try cleaning, I did which gave me my foot into the door and I've moved onto working platform duties.

It might not be to everyone's taste but it will offer you a step into the door which is the most important thing.

Hey Nick, guess who...

Hope it all goes ok with you + jobs, i'd go for a job pretty 'low down' in railways (eg. cleaner) and you can work up from there!!

:)
