Apparently 222 001 has been renumbered 222 601. Presumably the other Lumo units will follow suit.

I wonder how many people are still going to call them Meridians after their post-East Mids lives?
Whilst the passengers they will soon serve probably wouldn’t generally be aware of this, I’d have thought the nickname will live on to some extent given that the 222s have been around for over 20 years - it’s a long time for a nickname to stick.

Probably a similar number to who continue to call the former Hull Trains units Pioneers.

I’m pretty sure that 222601 has been operating full route runs now under Lumo under 5ZXX codes, all the way from Euston to Stirling. Unit appears to be based at Polmadie as well.

Yes it moved from Central Rivers to Polmadie either Friday or Saturday and did a run from Polmadie to Stirling to Euston and return on Sunday and I think today aswell.

Whereabouts is 222003 at the moment, I understand 004 is in Widnes, 002 in Crewe for training, and 005 back in Central Rivers after being swapped out for 222601 in Polmadie, but I can't seem to find anything on 003, help would be greatly appreciated.

Another video from YouTube but this time filmed at Greenfaulds In the dark and showing more of the interior.
What I hadn’t realised and find somewhat bizarre is the order the vehicles are in - I knew the ex FC vehicles had had their seats replaced, but have they switched around one of the vehicles? The leading vehicle seems to have the new seats, the next 4 retain their original, the next trailer has new, then the rear driving vehicle retains its original.

I believe they have swapped two of the coaches round. 222002 is formed the same way for some reason
001 is formed of
60161 (formerly A)

Perhaps spreading the loos out evenly?
The toilet position is the same as if the coaches weren't swapped looking at the video. Definitely strange though!

Is that a buffet counter visible at 1:26? I'm surprised it's still there since Lumo do a trolley service on the east (unless it's just going to lie dormant).
Although, if it is a Buffet it'll be much welcomed as sometimes on Lumo (East) you wait quite a while for the trolley to appear.

Not a big thing, but I've noticed that the carriage with the guard door doesn't have carriage numbers applied on either side.
The coach with the buffet? The numbers are there but in black for some reason
Appears to be so, though I can’t see if Lumo have vinyled it up for use or not.

If it's like the door next to the buffet on EMR then I'm sure they don't have buttons for passengers to open it.

The blue vinyls on the buffet shutter definitely look like Lumo's style, but they could I suppose just be advertising what's on offer on the trolley and with a note to go back to your seat and be served there?
Might be useful for trolley storage, though I'm slightly surprised they haven't just ripped it out to use as luggage space - the overheads in the 222s are tiny, and with little floor-level storage they are really going to struggle even with Lumo's strict luggage policy.

Good morning all, how will the 222s be operated in terms of dispatch?
Will they be the same as the 803s and be DCO operation where the driver operates the doors?
Or will they have a conventional TM on board who is safety critical and closes the doors?

DCO, yes. You can see from some of the pictures that cameras have been added on the bodyside for this.

Might be to do with them only being temporary units until the new 8xxs arrive.
I'd certainly expect minimum spend for the reasons you set out.
There is no door close buttons for the driver on a 222. Driver can only open doors on a 222 or hand control over to a guard/train manager for them to open doors.

Do you not think that Lumo might have installed such as part of installing cameras? What would be the point in installing DOO cameras without installing driver close buttons?
