For a few years I have been getting daily alerts in my email advising me of disruption in these areas. There are obviously events bad weather wise that disrupt the timetables. Disregarding these I find in the last year the amount of disruption - mostly Edinburgh to Glasgow and vice versa - is a daily occurrence with very few days being trouble free. However I don't read about First rail being brought to task about this. Where would I find out if they are being brought to task and what they are doing about it. Are the complaints being brushed under the carpet?

It all depends on the nature of the incident as to whether First Group are responsible, and indeed whether it is within their control to correct them.

Oh, here there and anywhere
Id like to ask to why youre so concerned about Scotrail being brought to task???
If it is nitwit rails fault then they carry the can and likewise if its Scotrails fault.

Because as the poor sod who experiences poor service, fair to say they should be able to ask what penalties are in place. You only have to look at the FoI I put in about Arriva XC to see the disaster WiFi implementation and penalties was.

My advice would be to ask Transport Scotland. If you want further help or ideas, PM me.

Other rail franchise operators have lost their franchise in the past for what many think is circumstances beyond their reasonable care. It seems in the last year or two complaints about First are on the rise and it would be nice to see where the threshold for losing theirs is? Also they have a monopoly on bus routes as well as rail. I thought this was against the public interest. Are they too powerful to be brought to task?

It can often be more that it is complicated than meets the eye.

I think for the things First are doing wrong at Scotrail no franchise has ever been lost on this but it has influenced future franchise awards.

Any delays caused by First they will be fined for, but it can often be the infrastructures fault. Ie Network Rail.

I would follow bluenoxid advice if i was you.
