Does anyone remember the FNW service which ran from Euston to Manchester Airport. Correct me if I'm wrong it ran from the 2nd January 1997 - 13th May 2000 and used either Class 322, 158 or even 309.

Class 323s' were the usual units if I remember correctly.
Stations served were Man' Airport; Wilmslow or Alderley Edge, Sandbach; a couple of the Trent Valley Stations; Rugby (?) & Euston. Services also stopped at Crewe for a crew change and, on some journeys, this was an advertised stop for customers travelling to or from the Manchester direction only, boarding & alighting there for journeys to & from Euston was strictly prohibited though.

The Manchester Airport services were 322s. The 158s were used on Rochdale (I think) services. Neither lasted very long.

Was run with Class 322s and started in May 1998 - lasted until May 1999. The Rochdale-Euston service (that used 158s) survived until May 2000.

Manchester Airport services called Alderley Edge, Sandbach, Tamworth and Watford Junction. Pathed via Northampton and Slow Lines all the way to Euston.

It didn't stop at Crewe at all when I used it - we used the Fast Lines between 5 & 6!

158s also worked the Blackpool to London service which attached and detached from the Rochdale portion at Warrington. Moderation of competition rules prevented it calling at Preston.

The Warrington stop was also non-passenger for the same reason, IIRC.

But it did call at the then-almost-new Euxton Balshaw Lane, giving it a direct London service!

Further to the original post on this thread - FNW's 309s did make it to Euston very occasionally during this period, but substituting for failed Mk3 sets on IC West Coast services. One 309 did also recieve a promotional 'Manchester Airport' advertising livery too (but nothing to do with the Euston services)

That's not right is it? There were semi_ regular 309s to Euston vice 322, but I can't recall any vice actual IC services. One might have sneaked in but the vast majority or workings were vice 322. Remember leaving Bletchley on 31xxx for Bedford one Saturday and the blue Clacton (624?) Storming past in the down fast!

156 vice 158 was a lot rarer but did happen, also a 153 on one occasion IIRC but I might be confusing that with something else.
