Looks nice, shame IE and NIR couldn't have set aside two Mk3 sets for the Enterprise service instead of scrapping them!

There was talk of a few of the PP sets being kept for Belfast services. Think it was €45,000 to refub each carriage and bring them up with current regulations for access for wheelchair passengers etc.

Are they scrapped already?

A tender was issued recently for them to be scrapped at there current locations.

Are they lengthening the train or removing a carriage to keep it roughly the same length? Latter would not be good!

No change in capacity still 7 coaches + van.

Well I travelled on the Enterprise this week (two different sets) and what we had was:

DVT
1st class carriage
1st/cafe carriage
4 x Enterprise class carriage
Generator van
Loco

I'm pretty sure it used to be 5 x Enterprise class carriages before they put the generator van on. It looks to me as if the generator van has made the train too long for the platforms, so the extra reliability is at the cost of reduced capacity.

They 5th Enterprise carrage was removed from the trains around 3 years ago due to falling passenger numbers. The current sets have had no capacity change since the EGV went on them. There is no platforms issues since the EGV are now operating however I am almost certain (will need to check) but no extra capacity can be added now because two platforms would be blocked in Connolly as a result if another passenger carrage was used.

Aha, that explains it. I don't travel on the service that often.
