And almost with a sense of irony since I only posted that yesterday, I received a call just now asking me to attend a medical and for my availability for a course starting in July :)

Excellent! You finally got there. Well done!

Thanks. It’s for GWR. I was in the talent pool and was prepared for a much longer wait. Fingers crossed I’ve not just imagined the call :)

Congratulations Stigy. I just passed the first stage assessment Center for Fratton talent pool, now waiting on details for stage 2, although the email did say there may be an extended wait due to changes to workforce requirements so not sure what’s going on. if you have any advice for the mmi I would appreciate it. Well done again

Thanks! Still waiting for my email invite to medical.....I have worked on the railway for 12 years so I know how slow it can be though :)

Not sure what that means in your email, maybe they need to assess more people than envisaged?

Congrats on passing stage one. The best advice I can give re the MMI is search this forum and take in all the advice given by others. On a more generic level, don’t over think any questions (for example when they ask about “emergencies” they’re after unexpected or unplanned events and don’t expect you to be able to recite the time you single handedly dealt with a multi vehicle RTC - if you have though, would be a good example to use lol).

I found the MMI not as daunting as I thought I would, as you know the questions you’ll be asked and have to write a brief account before the interview (no requirement to second guess what you’ll be asked).

Good luck with stage two!

Thank you, I sure will. It really is a long old process but will be worth it in the end. Good luck with your medical and training

I had the same quote when they announced I had passed Stage 2 assessments....I then received an email the next day with a date for my DMI!

Why do these threads say they were recent on the initial screen, 22 mins ago etc. Then when you click on the thread it dated years ago?

It may not be SPM. It could be Reading. Could even be Exeter. Bristol trainees have gone to all 3 recently, so where you're going to be based hasn't much bearing on where you will do your rules.

Yeah on a course at the moment with a Fratton trainee and he's said they're all going to be SPM this year

You know what, I won't bother. Obviously you all know better than the internal staff

I'm not sure who this is directed at but I'm internal and I was just stating what I've been told by my Fratton colleagues in case it helped anyone. Sorry if I offended.

When I had my DMI, the Manager said the course in July is running out of Reading.
Oxford will be Reading Fratton won't as Reading is DOO capable as is Oxford Fratton isn't, I'd have assumed an internal man would know that!
