The drivers cab in MAN and Scania E300s was bigger. Drivers seat for a start could go back more which isn’t the case on Firsts E300 with no space to recline. Geminis will be missed due to them being last buses left where handbrake doesn’t need applied for door opening. Time saved driving these.

Why have 33409, 33909, and 37739 been sent down to Leeds on loan? It seems like such a long distance, are there not any other depots closer with buses to spare?

York have all their Optare MetroDecker EVs sidelined at the moment due to a London one catching fire around a week ago.
Leeds immediately sent a bunch of buses to York, this is backfilling.

There's also Roundhay Festival on which First Leeds are operating shuttle buses for.

The E300 was essentially replaced by the E200MMC I take it. I guess they are hard working buses but not the most interesting of buses.

Speaking of the E400 low heights I noticed today I only seen them on the 77 and 6A. Kept of the 6 on a Sunday it seems.

It’s because the 6A use to use some of the E400MMCs in between the regular E300s on Sundays, before the E400MMCs moved to Caledonia.

I wonder if they’re being converted to nonsensical AI designed timetables just like every other First service these days.

Surprised the 243 isn't being chopped the Lanark end, Always fresh air on it and JMB upped their game with the 10 minute frequency and deckers on the route

I’m surprised they decided to return to Carluke and Lanark 10 years after pulling out presumably as it’s wasn’t covering its operating costs.

So are First Glasgow taking over routes 128 & 141, as well as making a new route known as the 11A? I noticed them get added to Bustimes.org recently.

The 11A is basically just the nighttime and sunday 11 as 1 full length route between Mountblow and Gartnavel instead of between Clydebank and Gartnavel

These are just tender gains but First fail to mention this.

Has the 128 operated before by First?

Every 70 minutes and every 45 minutes? What happened to every half hourly and hourly intervals?

These are SPT tendered services which have a peak vehicle requirement (PVR) of 1 bus, so the frequency (and ultimately the cost) is determined by the time required to complete a round trip. The 128 is one of the many hourly tendered services which can no longer maintain such a frequency and achieve the necessary level of punctuality. Budgetary restraints mean more resource isn’t added and the frequency simply drops to what can be achieved with one bus. The 141 used to be every 30 mins, and now struggles to even manage every 45 mins with wider gaps at certain times.
With little or no bus priority and ever increasing congestion and reducing available road space this will only get worse!

The 11 and 128 are tender gains on reduced timetables, albeit due to the SPT specifications rather than anything down to First themselves.
The 11A is a reduction but also isn't, monday to friday it is. But saturday its still hourly at night and on a sunday instead of it being every 70 minutes during the day its now every 50 cause thats how long it takes to do the full length of the route so they'll be a PVR of 2 buses on a Sunday.
I thought when the changes got released a few months ago that the 11A was gonna be just for first with a little spt support as it says optional timetable on the sheet.

First mention it further down the page just passed where its giving information about them

New Services!
We're introducing two brand new services from July 2026, operated on behalf of SPT.

Service 128
- Stobhill Hospital to Buchanan Bus Station via Milton and Saracen Cross. Every ~70 minutes, Mon–Sat from 13 July.
Service 141
- Partick to Gartnavel Hospital via Broomhill. Every ~45 minutes, Mon–Sun from 12 July.

Yes I see it now. It just seems a bit odd to re-summarise the information further down the page.

There was the 48 which did High Possil to City Centre and then onto Darnley via Shawlands and Pollok Centre but it went via Cowcaddens instead of Port Dundas. It was mainly operated by Leyland Atlanteans and Volvo Ailsas. After the 48 was cut to the southside only, numerous services at different times covered the High Possil end before it was deemed non-commercial.

McColl's had operated the service since 17 July 2022. Prior to that it was with First Glasgow as 128 since at least 2017. Unlike many others, the service continued completely unchanged throughout Covid, presumably due to the hospital.

The absolute work horse of first glasgow, must ne the enviro 300s, now they are 13/14 yeats old, and you never hear a bad thing about them from drivers and passengers, like the gemini it will be sadly missed when they start to replace them
I couldn’t say the same about some of the E300s I’ve been on - 67883 is particularly dreadful, when I was on it a month ago the engine sounded like it was on it’s last legs, the thing could barely top a flat 20mph, & you could feel a huge clunk in the floor whenever the bus shifted gears. I’ve also heard from an ex-First driver that it wasn’t a particularly good bus to drive either.

They are definitely past their best. It’ll be interesting to see if First opt for Yutong singles ADL or Wright as there will be a lot of E300s to replace throughout the network.

Some nice new E400evs would be a welcome replacement of the E300s on the rather busy 2s, 3s and 6s. Would make a good start, With the E200evs providing more electric back ups.
They had a e400ev in the fleet as well. I am bit confused as there new E400MMCs being produced. I thought the new E400ev was the new shape, did that just replace the e400city shape?
