No, it was a rumour made up to wind up the enthusiasts, and it went straight onto Facebook like it always does.

I'm pretty sure when First originally won the contract for the 500, Arriva took the huff and tried to compete but the Airport higher ups moved their stance away from the entrance. Arriva's attempt didn't last very long I think.

I think it was New Year 2011 that First started the 500. Not sure how long Arriva lasted on the 500, perhaps a year. First have since gone from the first E300s in teh Fleet to electric Wright Deckers on the route.

Used the 500 last night at 12am from airport. If a few flights come in at once, it can get busy, so deckers are essential now.

I wonder if there is any scope to extend the 77 to the airport over night.

Bit pointless as it doesn't connect with any other route at night. Never understand why First have started running a 24hr service on the 77 when apart from the 500, nothing else runs.

Yes, Glasgow is pretty dead in the wee hours I have noticed when I have been travelling at that time.

It's mostly for the Hospital for NHS staff, Picks up quite a lot of West End nightlife as well so it's well used, Although not First but Citylink and Ember run buses 24/7 as well

Yup I know few EastEnders who use the 900 to get to Easter house as it's cheaper to then get a taxi home or it's walkable

Yeah, but I’m unsure if it was tracking on another bus since it’s not tracking with it’s Bath TM.

If those hospital staff stay in, for example, Easterhouse, how do they get home from the City Centre when they get off the 77??? Like I said, running one route 24/7 is pointless if it connects with nothing else.

It runs commercially.

I would imagine the target market for staff is likely to be those who live in walking distance from the route through the West End, Partick etc. Those wishing to travel home from a night out (or work) in the city centre presumably help to make the sums add up.

If I recall correctly Firstbus, both in Aberdeen and in Glasgow, have only shown live locations on the map around half a dozen times since bustimes started.

I can’t remember the specifics as to why but any operators based solely within Scotland that use Ticketers don’t track north of the border anymore - only operators that do to my recollection are Borders Buses (thanks to them having a depot in Berwick-upon-Tweed), as well as Telfords Coaches which intrigues me since they’re based solely out of Newcastleton if I recall correctly.

Lothian and Stagecoach in Fife and Ayrshire seem to track - Ember is also highly visible across Scotland and Stagecoach's interurban expresses are all showing. Its just Houston's of Lockerbie, Whitelaw's, McGill's, WestCoastMotors, Shiels, and McCall's that aren't and all (except McGill's) of those are SMEs, so why is First not showing?

Does the mandatory open data standard not apply in Scotland? It looks like Glasgow is letting the side down a bit.

First clearly hope so, although it is still relatively new so may still be growing patronage. However, patience hasn’t always been a First strong point!

Like I've previously said the 900 runs 24/7 it stops at Easterhouse Train Station so a connection is possible

Indeed, the overnight 77 arrives in Buchanan at xx55, the overnight 900 departs Buchanan at xx00, although the connection looks quite tight, should be doable most of the time.

Sorry, but that is just nonsense. You base this assumption on…. What? Because Bustimes has a glitch? I’ve learned not to depend on a single source due to being caught out many times Glasgow feeds are neither better nor worse than any other part of the country.

There is some truth to it. The passenger feed was recently turned off, which caused all the independent companies across Scotland to stop tracking. However, I’m not sure if this was the reason for First Glasgow and Aberdeen, as they haven’t been working for a wee while.
