Over the last couple of weeks I’ve noticed three breakdowns on the M80 of First buses (and I’m only on that road at the weekends), plus another one on Tuesday which I didn’t see but has been reported in the media (below). The breakdowns I noted were from the batch of buses sent up recently from down south, 66 plate E400s.
Even allowing for the usual “outrage” of people, it’s not a good look to see First buses being regularly towed along the M80… and you wonder if the buses were not getting the attention required prior to being dispatched north, or they’re not ideally suited to motorway work?

A First Bus spokesperson said, "We can confirm that one of our X3 services experienced a coolant leak on the M80 yesterday at around 3pm, which resulted in steam coming from the vehicle. "A replacement vehicle was immediately sent from Buchanan Bus Station to collect the passengers. We apologise for the disruption and inconvenience caused to our passengers on this service."

Gerard McLaughlin had been travelling on First Bus's X3 service to Cumbernauld on Tuesday, April 28, when passengers started noticing smoke.
