It will be interesting now will First go back and do the X1. I just wonder as heard a lot of rumours that there thinking about it
If that’s true then First have got their priorities all wrong. They really need to fix their entire network of timetables, and I don’t mean taking a blank canvas to it, but it’s been turned into a dog’s dinner during the past 12 to 18 months.
Whilst they cannot be held accountable with regards to the current state of the city centre, the very long term closure of Phoenix Road under the M8 at Cowcaddens and the volume of roadworks/temporary road traffic orders popping up but it does seem since the introduction of AI timetables, they have been implementing changes on a route-by-route basis and abandoned the concept of frequent corridor intervals as a result.
If you check Maryhill Road for example, which is one of the busiest corridors in Glasgow, First historically scheduled journeys to run up to every 5 minutes with some intervals as low as every 8 minutes but there are now some gaps of every 12 minutes which no doubt will have benefited West Coast Motors and Midland Bluebird.
Also the 1/1A/1C don’t coordinate well at various times the of day from Scotstoun to Osborne Street.
The 87/88 on the Buchanan Bus Station to Springburn corridor in the evenings traditionally provided a combined every 15 minutes frequency but now there are journeys departing the bus station within 3-5 minutes followed by a large gap of up to 25 minutes.
These are just some observations but I’m sure there are numerous other similar examples throughout the network.
