Perhaps Scotstoun should trade the Repowers to Caledonia for some newer or brand new E400 evs for the 77 and 2/3 routes.

The Repowers are perfect for Cross City routes. Although could use some usb sockets and some working route indoor displays. Was on one yesterday on a 2 giving away it's previous heritage as West of England v4.3. At least it was switched off and had not just been removed.
Clearly not the plans the repowers are for Scotstoun as I mentioned before

First Lanarkshire changes website and press release.

First Glasgow seems to going in the same direction as Lothian Buses, the other large local bus operator in Scotland. Too much playing about in the suburbs whilst taking their eye off the ball with the core city network. But that’s only my opinion.

Realistically there's not much innovation space left in the Glasgow area and they have focused on it for a long long time while ignoring Lanarkshire

I still can’t believe that someone at First has thought that having another go at serving Lanark isn’t going to end up with the same result as before. JMB do a decent job and a lot of people will stick with them. The concessions will just take the first bus to turn up – and would you bet against JMB getting to the stop first?

Just looking at the timetables for the 240 and 267 it looks as if they’ve taken at least one bus from each of them – lots of 14/15 min gaps in the AI timetable. If JMB were looking to hit back they might see First taking their eye off their best routes – a Viewpark to Motherwell route wouldn’t need a big PVR.

My main takeaway from this is that we’ll see another big First network change by the end of the year to try and get things back on track – and JMB will still be here and doing OK.

Jmb tried a 240 Viewpark to Cleland route years ago against Firsts 240/241 and it didn't take off, same with when Jmb had the 6 North Motherwell to Motherwell. If Jmb were to hit back I think they'd need to target Overtown or up to Shotts again or copy the X11 with a similar route or extend all the X5s to Newmains, but doing that they'd miss the main Wishaw and Motherwell section of the X11. Even a Pather to North Motherwell bus same route as 242 til Motherwell every 20 minutes given the 242 has been reduced. That would also hit the 243

The 201 would surely be a prime target for JMB, being frequent and well used with no major competition at present, and being separate enough from the main Glasgow network to probably be more worthwhile than trying to go up against First season ticket holders along the 240/255/263/267 etc.

No need for innovation, they just need to do a better job of running some of their city routes. The AI timetables seemed to have cut some journeys at the peak on busy routes like the 2 and 38 to avoid increasing PVR but it’s the customer who loses out with reduced capacity.

The new X25/X25A timetable is up and would seem it will differ in having no peak uplift on weekdays and no longer serve the University meaning 7 buses for the full day.
Will this cope with the current peak flows or will duplicates may have to be added, bearing in mind First didn't have to step in to replace Stagecoach in the first place?

To think that it the X25/X25A was every 5 minutes during the morning peak at one time using coaches! It's such a downfall for what was a fantastic service

I have noticed at peak times some routes have a longer gap between services.

Glasgow and the West has hardly had any new routes in last decade. Only recently with JMB.

As many of you will have read in the media, there has been a devastating fire in Glasgow City Centre to the building on the corner of Union Street at Gordon Street next to Central Station and 18 hours later, all First can tell us on their website is that services are on diversion with no details of alternative stops.

First used to be really good at communicating incidents such as this with diversions and details of alternative stops for customers.

Really disappointing.

There are many diversions shown in their website.

Is First doing anything to cope with the Central station closure? putting deckers on instead of singles, frequency increases in southside etc.

It doesn't specify what stops services are calling at though. For example, what stops are the 18/18A calling at in the city centre towards East Kilbride? Is it running non-stop? It's unclear.
At least some stops have signs on them saying where the nearest stop is for each route.

The 18/18A has been stopping outside Buchanan Bus Station but I'm not sure about anywhere else on the diversion.

Not even that long into service and 71042 has seat replacements.

I think there is shortage of deckers.
Well until they get the Cornwall Enviro 400MMCs ready, there might be a shortage.

I think they might need them, or most of them, for the X25 / X25A.

Midland Bluebird did not have them either.
They did, not everything had them though. Depends on if they were new to them or cascaded from elsewhere. B7RLEs and StreetLites certainly had them, as did most Scanias and anything from Glasgow.

No they don't, some places down South don't have them and Cornwall never had them
The latest solos from Cornwall certainly have screens and vaults fitted.

Basically most routes from Renfrew Street go to Buchanan Bus station. From there to the Royal Infirmary then High Street. Right into Trongate and original. Route.Bit of a Mystery tour at cost to timekeeping.
