Kernow has a lot of E400MMCs of similar age to ours. I wonder if any will make their way to Glasgow seeing as they operate a lot of the type.

I don’t think First’s local operating companies decide which type of buses to buy these days. It will be centralised senior directors making these decisions.
They certainly would need authorisation to convert a route from single to double deckers with new buses.

Wasn't it to replace the mmc's that were going back off lease?
Was on 71040 on Saturday night - I assume one of the repowers as it had an old Routemaster number plate.
Looked good both outside and in and the seats looked smart and were fairly comfortable.
Didn't notice USB ports but may just have missed them.
Internal destination board showed West of England v something which I thought was really poor.
What astonished me, though, was the frequency and noise of somethings creaking (sounded like both sides towards mid-rear) - really intrusive and annoying but lessened at speed!
Is that unique to this bus and just needing fixed or is this apparent in all of them?

Yeah, I don’t get why they leased those shorter YX68 E200MMCs to begin with? It seems so stupid to lease buses that were pretty fine at doing their job, and replace them with Ex-London buses that probably have more miles on them from all their London work.
At least with the Ex-London Plaxton Presidents & ALX400s, they mainly replaced step-entry buses.

Perhaps they leased them because they didn't have sufficient available capital to fund all the fleet replacement that they need to undertake?
Think of it in everyday terms. Do you know people who have mortgages, lease agreements or loans to buy something because they didn't have the cash? Once upon a time, the differential between leasing and outright purchase was quite large; less so now.
Didn’t get the reg or number unfortunately, but I saw one of the NewPowers being hooked up to a recovery vehicle this evening outside the Royal.
Several months on and the fleet still appear to have teething issues. I’ve noticed that the rear display never works, 99% blank and once I saw a dot. As one of the other members has already mentioned, when onboard the one I was on last week I noticed the internal display screens were saying West of England too. The number and reg were 71031 CMZ 5331.

Have noticed that any repowers I’ve seen don’t have working rear screens. Also wish they’d replaced them with the new white LEDs. The orange doesn’t look great and is difficult to see
I was on 71040 yesterday and that was still showing West of England on its next stop displays
It's not a major problem just needs software upgraded.
According to bus times, 37273 is currently in service from Caledonia. It seemed to move to its services on Monday along with 37272 but the latter was back at Blantyre on Tuesday. Perhaps they've just been on loan.

But very sloppy to put them out in service without doing so first
PS type B10Ms for me, as I was in a Kelvin operating area at the time.

Unfortunately, there are certain minimum standards that just go with the territory at First.
They were good but I thought the Volvo B10M Citybus and the Volvo B10M PS single deck types were better.

For sheer entertainment value it would have to be the Scania Metropolitans from the late 70s/early 80s for me. Any other answer is simply wrong …or you were sadly born at the wrong time!

Indeed, you can make a pretty good guess at the age of those forum members who have so far provided an answer!
Was on 71047 today in theory heading for Baillieston. However the display said Cribbs Causeway.
A quick bit of detective work on Google seems to think it's a Bristol Shopping Centre.
Doubtful the battery would be capable of getting there without some charging on the way.
Must be said the screens on front, side and rear, As well as the interior screens were working. Just showing the completely wrong destination
No signs of any vibration in traffic on this one. So perhaps any problem has been identified and rectified

Cribbs Causeway is the terminus of the First Bristol 2, the file for the Hanover Displays must not have been updated.

Sending a bus out in service with the destination equiptment being just plain wrong really isn't the standards you should be able to expect.
