I believe this conversation has been had before. There is currently nothing new on the market in terms of low height double deckers which would meet the Busby Bridge height requirements. The BYD E400EVs are off by millimeters.

To my knowledge, the only low height bus shorter than the original E400 from this century has been the one off East Lancs Kenitec+.
And the Tri-Axel B7L East Lancs Nordics, which the E400s replaced in 2011-2012.

Whoops, I forgot about tri axles. Yes the Nordics and E500s were both low enough for the 6 / 66. I wonder if there are newer tri-axles which could do the job then?

Speaking Of LO's.

One which KGGXXXY might approve of?

Former first 31524 / T9 / LO22 - KGG142Y entered preservation yesterday - A small group including myself rescued her.
Lowbridge ECW with rare Leyland TL11 / Voith Gearbox combination. Drove to its new home yesterday from Polmadie where it has lived under cover for the past 13 years.

Some original features remain internally - but a shopping list of parts needed is being made. Obviously things like Windows.

I've started a seperate thread here so not to clutter the First Glasgow thread: Click Here

Are there any photos of it with the first group number 31524? I can find any.

Ahh someone spotted I created the thread, my user name does comes from these registrations.
when I was a kid in the early nineties I noticed there was loads of buses with this reg combination (mainly Ailsas) that ran on the old SB 57/48 that we got from town to home in the southside and lasted on the 56 I took to College in the early 00s. I look forward to seeing the progress on this one, seen the thread and post on the GVVT facebook.

Why do these buses have private plates?

Woke up to see that someone or some group of people had put up fake First adverts around Glasgow City Centre, stating that the old X4/X5 services would be coming back.

I’m not mad, I found it quite funny TBH. Don’t know if anyone fell for them (hopefully not) as they can easily be noticed as silly jokes as seen here:

Except it looks like they have been stuck over a timetable or similar.
Who has the time to do this and why? What do they gain from it?

Probably the same gain as for the s**ts and giggles of set a bus on fire or throw a rock at the cab or passenger saloon, it’s all for fun and games.

I saw this one last week on a shop unit near Slaters was wondering what it was if it was off one of the borrowed buses from another opco and taken off.

38600 which has been confined to the 5 is on the 38 today to stretch its legs.
Also recent moves I’ve noticed are 44463 & 63230 to Scotstoun.

I’m unsure if 63230 is temporarily staying or not (it was on the 6A yesterday, and the 3 today), but 44463 is on the 81 today (after being on the 2 yesterday).

So I have a feeling that some Scotstoun’s shorter Streetlites might be moving to Dumbarton and will be swapped for E200s?

Probably some enthusiast's for a laugh. Not really funny though. Looks meme like.

Good to see it breaking free, I'd love the chance for a shot of it. I'd assumed it was off elsewhere after repairs. Some folk were saying Aberdeen
I wonder what will become of it once Glasgow receives more buses as it’s unlikely First will be ordering anymore of the type. It will become non-standard. I wonder if it will eventually operate for another operator altogether albeit with a First interior.

Hope they do buy them brilliant buses to for drivers and passengers and also much better than the new airport buses

The new generation ADL E400EVs seem like decent buses - it’s a shame they’ve been tainted by the poor build quality of the previous BYD/ADL E200EVs. I can see why First would want to opt for Wright and Yutong.
