The course for August has been cancelled, looking like Sept or Dec now...that's for West depots though.

All gone quiet on this post I see. I think we are all coming to the realisation that perhaps we done well to get as far as we did, but it's the ends f the road

Yeah, feel the same, kind of accepting that it's not going to happen now, gone on way too long.

Backs up my thoughts then, what's the longest anyone's waited post DM interview to be taken on? Mine was 14 months ago now.

OTOH if there hasn't been any Oxford trainees on any of the courses from this year then maybe there's still a faint glimmer of hope.

There are still 2 courses to run on the west side. Whether dates have been confirmed I am unsure. Best of luck

A lot of attention being given to West, I made an enquiry this week about my possible future and received the same reply I got last November almost word for word. I'm just clinging onto the fact that I have it in writing that this recruitment drive was for possible vacancies in 2015/16 so I suppose all is not lost.....yet.

Do you think it means anything getting in a talent pool for the specific depot? After interview many of us received the email about being successful after the interview, then months later it was another email about being in a talent pool for the depot you applied for itself. Is there really a difference?

It's quite simple really.

Being successful at the interview means you were successful at the interview. The interviewees were then sifted into depots they wanted if possible, or close by, according to needs of the company, if not.

Being told you're in the talent pool for a particular depot means you're in a talent pool for a particular depot.

I didn't need it spelling out and explained to me like I'm a 13 year old... I meant in terms of all the stages you go through, is it really a step up or just an excuse to send out another email and keep people hanging on.

The question was also aimed at others in the process so we know what others have received in terms of communication from FGW. If you don't fit into either those please save your reply for someone else.

All the best...

Just wondering if any of the long term talent pool members have now got jobs somewhere else or have withdrawn their application. It's been a long time since anyone had any positive news.

My 3 years is up in April. As there have been several training courses since I was put in the talent pool I can only assume my performance at interview wasn't as high as everyone else's.
I sat the old tests too so would have to go through the whole process again if I was to apply elsewhere, which I won't be doing.

A tough pill to swallow considering what I would perceive as alot of jumping through hoops and good faith given the shambles of my process.

However that said, I wish everyone the best of luck and hope their applications prove more fruitful than mine.

What depot is that for?

The tests are valid on the RSSB database for 5yrs. However, operators like SWT or FGW only have 3yr validity. Should you be in the hold pool and they expire, you will be re-invited to sit the tests that have expired/over-lapsed. Its not over, until they actually send you an email/letter stating that. In the meantime, your doing the right thing, keep trying elsewhere and don't give up. I think the recruitment is by far from done.
