Yes, I did my stage 1 in Bristol in September, I also did my stage two in October, medical in December and started working for FGW in January.

As far as recruiting goes I think the ship has sailed. from what I know. April is possibly going to be the last running course for the foreseeable. @skinny Dave, any advances on this?

I've heard June.. It is slowing down

Skinnydave is this accross all depots? I get the impression that there are more positions in London as there are with other TOCs. Can you confirm?

The last batch will be June , which may not even go ahead . I have been told there isn't a course starting between April and May in some depots. But there may be one location that may have a course between April and June . I just thought I will share this as alot of you keep wanting answers but its really hard to predict FGW . But you never know what I was told is subject to some changes. The person that told me was pretty sure it will go the way they said however .

Good luck people , keep faith you never know what can happen.

I waited 6-8months to start.

Regarding the info on courses starting in Apr & June do we know which depots they are for?

I applied for Oxford....and if 'within next couple of months' I would hazard a guess that I would start April if successful.
Seen as April is only 2 months away whilst June is almost 5.

It was also interesting to hear that the training 'would be Reading/Bristol'.

However, this is a guess...I can only wait and see!

I emailed First careers last week and received a response.
It said they were still awaitinf the line manager to put together dm interview dates in westbury so to hang fire. Ah well. A little communication always helps me feel connected to it all

It is very much a patience game, they've said at every stage so far they'll let us know what's going on either way.

I applied late-august (for Paddington), waited 3 weeks to hear back about a telephone interview which i took almost immediately. I then waited another 3 weeks to hear back that I was succesful and would be sitting stage 1. I had to wait 4 weeks for the results of stage 1 (passed), then sat stage 2 in late november. I waited 7 weeks to hear back stage 2 results (again pass) and am now up to 4 weeks waiting to hear a date for Driver Managers' Interview.

Hi JN114, i'm in the similar situation as you, its almost 8 weeks since I've been told I had passed Stage 2. Someone who is currently training at Paddington has said they heard there is a course to start in April so hopefully we'll have our DM interviews soon at least if this is the case.

At least I'm not the only Padd applicant waiting then, that puts my mind at rest somewhat!

Well that is me out of the running! Unsuccessful at DM interview...quite gutted tbh.

Ah well, at least I have the Stage 1 and 2 assessment passes under my belt.

I thought I did, but the feedback points to me making one mistake...ONE!
And it was not what I expected!

Damn!

I'm sorry to hear that. Like you said you have your OPC under your belt. Think it lasts 5years so I'm sure you can go to another TOC. Will FGW give you your OPC results/pass marks?

I have asked to see if they can let me know (at least give me an idea e.g. borderline, pass, good pass etc), or if I have to go ask elsewhere, who and how do I contact them.

Unlucky man - where did you go wrong? If you know/don't mind my asking...

It lasts up to 5 years and is logged on a central database, just tell any TOC you apply for that you have taken the tests (where and when is also useful) and they will look them up.

I found out I passed a couple of weeks ago (stage2) and just awaiting a date also . . . Hope it's not too long of a wait. When did you sit your assessments?

Well I jumped the rough all the hoops passed both stages and was succesful in my driver interview, but seem to have been overlooked for both the jan and April courses or Bristol. Considering the application process has taken near on a year to say I am disappointed is an understatement. If I had failed on one of the processes I would probz feel sligjtly better as at least I would know where I needed to improve. But to be told I had achieved good passes on everything in stage 1 and 2 and then receive extremely positive feedback from my DM interview I don't know what to think. The lack of communication from the first group HR is definitely dissapointing however. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear back, I hope your experience is more encouraging than mine. Although I still have time to be called up for a training course, it perhaps seems that all my hard work is to no avail and my application will just dissapear into the abyss. I would rather just be told that I didn't make the grade than be kept on hold.
