Hi guys. Im new to this site!! Im trying to get in with SWT. I have been ringing HR since june and they keep telling me to ring back. The last person I spoke to was very helpful but she also told me there were 100 people on the shortlist. Does anyone know if these are people that have done the assessments or people like me enquiring about posts.
Please note I am prepared to wait as I have a half decent job but it has become a bit of an obsession to become train driver/operator!

I've got Oxford, like a few of us here it seems! I was told I was looking at a January/ February start but if everyone else is saying March/April, I wonder if I'll end up in that group. I'm still waiting for my drugs test results. I'm not sure I'll hear back before Christmas.

good luck with SWT, I took my asessments with them in may 2012,passed them all and i'm still on the shortlist, have recently been offered a position with another company however.

Glad to have got my stage 1 out the way on Tuesday.

Not sure how I did, I have a feeling I miss counted towards the end on the TEAOcc part 1 bit. Although I am fairly confident I did Ok with all other parts.

We was told it would be the New Year before we would hear, either way. So its going to be a long Christmas break, not knowing lol

I had previously passed all my psychometric testing so i didn't do them with fgw. they've been very quick getting in contact and progressing through the stages. well good luck for you medical and will look forward to meeting you in march or april.

We'll done mate!! You must be over the moon! How did you find the interview? I feel like I done well on my stage 1 but don't the outcome yet, they said we probably wouldn't hear until after Xmas!

to be honest mate, i actually found the dm interview more intense than my grilling/structured interview at db schenker. it was quite intense and by his reaction it was hard to judge how i did. His reaction was as if i seemed quite young and not much life experience. So i think someone older with more life experience will have a lot more ideas and possible answers to their questions. yes i'm over the moon, was absolutely shocked when i got the phone call, did not expect to be offered a conditional offer espeicially so quick, i thought i would become a back up if they ran out of people, so its nice that they've contacted me so quick. hopefully you've done well and good luck for stage 2 mate. see you at oxford soon (Y)

Whilst on the subject on dm interview. Can I ask how did you prepare? What was the interview like and how was it set out?

morning, I researched the company thoroughly and first group themselves. I also purchased the how to become a train driver book which helped me a lot with practice questions which a lot were similar to interview ones just worded different. Also gave me excellent information on how to prepare for the interview and good interview techniques. cost me £20 but i would say £20 well spent got me a £45k a year job. I would go with trackies and trainers if people still own them? haha.

Well a rather shambolic start to my stage 2. Having already passed stage one courtesy of my previous pass in August with Southern I arrived expecting to do all the 'new' assessments. When chatting to the other candidates before we started they all said they had sat
the TEA-OCC tests in their stage one! I spoke to the OPC staff who confirmed that they were only set up to do the WAFV, SJE & 2hand today. I was a bit taken aback as I had all sorted in my mind the order that I would be sitting the tests. Anyhow I got through the comp tests & am waiting for the MMI this afternoon. Am now totally confused as to where this leaves me in the recruitment process though I suspect I am going to have to go and sit the missing 'new' modules sometime!

Just had it confirmed by the lady at OPC that I will have to sit the stage one parts at another time despite being told by FGW that I had passed stage 1. Of course that all depends on whether I get through the MMI which was one of the toughest interviews I've done. Fingers crossed. Good luck to all others sitting their assessments

Not sure if anyone on this thread will know, just getting a bit concerned I have my Stage 1 on January 16th 2014. I currently live in Edinburgh and notice a lot of people have already been given conditional offers. I am now starting to think I have made the wrong choice in opting for the furthest away date to give me time to prepare I could of chosen dates In December. Would I be correct in thinking that I may travel the distance and all the trainee drivers may be full and I will be some sort of list in case any more opportunities come up.


Any replies would be welcome

This thread is a mix of 2 different people at different stages in their applications.

Those getting the conditional offers are from a previous 'batch' who sat there assessments before the latest 'batch' of which you and I are part of.

Yeh hes right wfmeredith. Its a rolling recruitment. People on conditional offers and start dates applied in like april I think? I applied in august and am awaiting dm interview date wooohooo

they are recruiting 300 drivers over the next few years ready for the IEP. so you've nothing to worry about, just concentrate on getting it all right on the day.

I applied in September, passed stage 2 in November, DM interview was on 10th December. Still frustratingly waiting for news now!

Aww cheers guys really appreciate the response I originally applied middle of November had telephone interview on 4 December then got my invite fod assessment stage 1 I really didnt realise it was a huge recruitment drive heres hoping I get pass the first stage :)
