if you go onto the website under the contact us button there is a side header for careers. On a diff note got a call back yday saying I was succesful at interview and will be on the next available course at Zveistol which they expect to be in April. However I won't pack my bags just yet though as I am all to conscious of how the railway works and wouldn't be surprised to see nothing gapped until at September! Medical etc will be fond nearer the time sge said. Champion

I had my dm interview last Friday in Reading, found out on Monday I'd passed . I have my medical on Monday. I've applied for the Oxford depot. Anyone else out there for Oxford?

I'm a little nervous for my medical. My BMI is 28 currently which I heard is the top of what they want. Also I came off antidepressants half a year ago, after being on them for a year. I wasn't taking them for depression, but I'm somewhat worried what they'll make of it. Anyone out there can put my mind at ease?

Well if I am ever going to be successful with my app I best lose some weight fast just in case I do get through to the medical :roll:

Although I have nothing wrong with my health, already work on the railways, often out and about inspecting/examining bridges, carrying heavy/bulky equipment and walking miles.

Although TOC's have a preferable BMI limit, there is an element of discretion that can be given if you aren't quite there.

There have been a number of Trainee's taken on in recent months that have an obvious BMI overlap. A few are good colleagues/friends of mine and they have been allowed to continue onto the training course with the understanding that an agreed amount of weight has to be lost before they pass out as a qualified driver.

Also, a good sickness/attendance record and a healthy blood/heart pressure will mitigate against a large BMI. As I said in a recent posts, very few people actually fail a medical and declined employment. The TOC will more often or not try to find a solution to overcome any medical problem and pass you out.

Although full month of nail chewing can be challenging.

I passed the medical with a Bmi MUCH higher then 28. I have quite a bit of muscle that adds more weight aswell. All they need to be able to prove is that you can fit in the cab and you are able to climb into the cab from ballast/track level. If you are relatively proportionate and are not hampered in anyway by your size then you will be fine. As for the antidepressants I am not able to comment as I have not taken them. But the I know it is not automatically a disqualifying thing. (It is for other jobs like Air Traffic Control). Just be honest and upfront when you fill out the from and the Dr will talk with you about it. I am sure it will all be ok. I am sure it has been covered in other threads on here so have a look out for those.

Those that have taken the Stage 2, how did you prepare?

i didn't because its so easy.. watch a cube for 30 min. and move bubble through .. thats it..

Thanks for the encouragement re: my BMI. I am a healthy person in general and my heart rate is normal. I guess after all these stages and despite receiving a conditional offer, I am apprehensive to celebrate finally. It probably won't sink in until I'm in the classroom on the first day of training.

I read through the practice material. I didn't do all that much practice though and what I did practice I don't think helped significantly. It's nice to know what to expect for each test though. I spent much more time practicing the Group Bourdon for Stage 1.

If you haven't received any practice material (they sent me it twice for some reason!) I would ring them to let them know.

Hey guys,

I've got my interview tomorrow (17th) at reading. This weekend i was playing in a charity football match and twisted my knee so i'm walking with a limp and in quite a bit of pain. The fact that i've hurt myself and not 100% able and walking will this go against me at the interview or not? i'll be fine in a couple of weeks. just annoying its happened 3 days before my interview!

I passed my medical yesterday. I have no idea what I was worrying about. I think I just wait for the results of my urine sample and then with references everything should be sorted. I still have no idea of a start date though.

I think it went well in the grand scheme of things, passed the computer oriented tests, everything hinges on the MMI now. Waiting with my fingers crossed now for the stage 2 results, hope they are prompt with it

congratulations to those who passed. I had my dm interview yesterday and they rang this morning to offer me a conditional offer of employment for oxford. I've got my medical in jan and then start in march/april.

How did the 2 guys get on who had their dm interview and stage 1 assessments i was talking to yesterday? hope you did well.
