An update for anyone who took stage one assessments in Bristol back in June:

I passed first stage at Bristol in June. Along with a few others I received an email saying I'd passed but they were unable to recruit outside the company for 6 months. Tuesday morning I got a call inviting me to stage 2 assessments today in Newport so still hope for some.

Should be there now but due to the M5 closure and severe traffic I want able to get there. Now back on hold awaiting a new date. Gutted wasn't the word!

Thanks for the update, commiserations to you on the snafu. Do you have a telephone number for HR? I have since passed all the tests and just want to make sure FGW have updated their records if I don't get the job with FLHH.

If Thursdays candidates heard yesterday then I'm hoping I'll hear today (I did mine Friday). It's winding me up in knots and the thought of having to wait till next week is unbearable.

Get used to the waiting. I had my DM interview three weeks and six days ago and I've still not heard anything. Argh!

No news today. I know there's normally a long wait list to hear but everything so far has happened so quickly. Applied online 19th September and was sitting assessment 1 a month later. Fingers crossed for tomorrow then LOL

Well supposedly find out today as to wether I have passed the structured interview. Really hope so, as I have achieved good passes on all my other tests.

Yes, the new practice material came with the email invite.

Quite a change I would say, in line with what other people have said in other threads. Various attention. perception and vigilance tests, written communication and multi-modal interview. Going to be a busy and long day hopefully!

Pffft gutted, was told I would find out today the results of my structured interview but haven't, anyone here with experience regarding the structured interview?

I presume that because the grading is based on the info in your answers that the assessor would know there and then as to wether you have passed, which is making me feel a bit sceptical.

If I had done my interview with an external contractor I wouldn't feel as apprehensive, but considering it was done by the First Group assessor themselves I would of thought I would of heard by now, as they said by the end of the week.

I am not quite sure as to whether or not you are talking about the new Multi-Modal Interview or the traditional structured interview otherwise known as the Criteria Based Interview as I understand that October was the transition period. If it is the CBI, I may not be of much assistance as I failed it little more than a month ago and I did not perform particularly well. My interview was conducted by the OPC rather than internally with the FOC, Freightliner.

Admittedly, I would not want you to get the job before me but being a resident Northerner, I would be unlikely to pass automated short-listing for First Great Western living several hours away from just about any of their depots. I have got another five months of my six month ban to go in any case.

Looking at it in those terms, it really does not sound too good but you cannot fault me for being candid. Anyway, how can I help you?

The one question on which I did pass was the one about the long training course for which I only cited the one example.

I had to return to the question for rules and procedures and was asked repeatedly how I felt about certain aspects that I described. I also had to cite alternative examples to different questions. If nothing in this paragraph sounds familiar, then things may not seem too bad.

I don't want any help as us such, was just asking for other peoples experiences.

I have just had my CBI and was told that I would hear by the end of the week.

The end of the week has been and gone with no information or feedback, so just wanted to know how long people generally waited for.
