First Great Western Trainee drivers, Anyone heard back?

I was wondering if anyone else here had also been on 4th October!
At least I'm not the only one who hasn't heard anything.
If I've not heard anything by next week I'll email the H.R. Peeps again, although no doubt be told they still haven't been given the results!

I sat my assessment on the 4th too. It's so frustraiting being told to wait 7-10 days then not hearing anything.

Hello wanabedriver, I was there on the 4th of Oct in Reading, I sat on the front row on the right hand side. I've heard nothing back so far, my online application status has not changed and I e-mailed First Group Careers last night chasing them for an update and now I have to wait 36 hours for a reply from them. I expect they will tell me I have to wait longer. I want this so much the wait is killing me, even if they say I failed or got a boarderline pass I would be able to get on with my life!

Any news yet, its been three weeks since we sat the assessment. I'm beginning to think the worst and hoping for the best.

Hi mate - sorry to hear you failed - hopefully you'll crack it all next time.

What do you mean by the cbi? Is that the structured interview? And haven't they even phoned you?

Always wondered what happens if you fail one part - does it mean you have to re-take the whole lot again? Hopefully not........

I think as I've passed the practical test they are valid for a few years. I should just need to sit the compency based interview ( cbi). They haven't phoned yet but have updated my status on The application form.

I think as it part of the assesment I have to wait 6 months but I'll phone and find out

Hi sim,what does it actually say on your online status? I did my cbi on 25th but my status is still got invited to assessment/interview yet the date is still the 16th which was stage one.Yeh unfortunatley the cbi is part of the assessments so you have one last chance to pass them all! I would ring HR again bob

Mine say unsuccessful cbi interview. Another guy Dave on the same day says successful full assessment. Before the update mine said the same as yours.

Ah right sorry to hear that! I know its no help but too get through the other assessments is more than most.The interview is horrible got a feeling my status will say the same as yours but if it does then at least we have 6months to prepare for all the questions we know we will face!

Hello Sim,

Sorry that you recieved bad news.

Have you had an interview with the depot managers or the structured interview? Sorry to ask but im confused as they are both competency based interviews.

If you've passed everything held by OPC then you have the assessments under your belt and would go straight to the manager interview in future unless there are any extra tests they require you to take.

Sorry to be probing but im waiting on the results of my managers interview at the moment.

Hi no it was the opc interview the managers was next. The fat lady hasn't sang yet but I think it won't be long. So I guess I will need to wait 6 months then :cry:

If anyone on here is starting on the 5th November would you please be so kind to let us know how many of you start and if all are based from Oxford or if it is from various different stations?

To kick off then - I'm starting on the 5th at Oxford.

For those interested in the length of the training programme, it is planned at 45 weeks.

I've applied for oxford just waiting on results of stage two.Met a train manager for fgw and he said there's definatley another course in January.He also said the training would'nt be in oxford.He thinks you would train in reading or bristol.is that right for the guys starting in nov?

The classroom training is all over the place. We will be at Paddington, Reading, Swindon and Bristol for various parts of the classroom stuff. The train handling part will be at our 'home station', Oxford in my case.

Ah ok,do fgw pay for hotels if you have training in all different locations? How was your managers interview at oxford? A bit more relaxed than the woman from opc?

The gap between my stage 2 and the managers interview was just under two weeks. But its been 4 weeks since my managers interview and I haven't heard anything yet. HR have told me they are waiting on my results. Im guessing that will happen once everyone has been through their managers interview.

I think there are a few more courses starting over the next few months. As jscho says training is dotted around, Paddington, Bristol, Swindon and Reading.

If the training location is more than two hours from your home depot, they pay for hotels.

All seems to have gone a bit quiet regarding people being notified of passing / failing / being invited to the next stage etc.

Is it half term at the HR office I wonder?

Anyone heard any more news this week? I'm still awaiting news from the 1st assesment on 16th October at Reading.

I had my first assessment on the 4th of October and I have not heard anything back yet. They did say it would be 7-10 days before we heard anything but here we are almost a month later with no phone call, e-mails or letters...... I e-mailed once and they said the results are with the HR manager. I'm going to wait until Monday next week to ask if I got a high pass (doubt it), a boardline pass or a fail. I just want to know so I can look at other TOC's.

Desperate to know the results - apart from I want the job obviously - I've also just been shortlisted with Northern so it'd be good to know in case they contact me to arrange assesments / interviews soon.

Can anyone help me out or in the same boat. I completed my first assessment in Bristol on the 4th September but I have still not heard anything back and the HR told me that they're waiting to hear off the HR Team. Because people on here have taken assesment after and completed managers interviews I think I have failed.

Never give up..........

These things seem to work at there own pace. But I'm sure a call to HR wouldn't hurt - not that they seem to give a definate yes or no at the moment - they must be rushed off their feet with the ammount of applicants.
