*Mod note* Discussion split from this thread:

Inspired by the thread on SBG legacy and rumours of Dumbarton's future, Does anyone know the brief history of the depots pre First?

I know that Caledonia is the replacement of Larkfield and Parkhead (Strathclyde/GGPTE/corpy)
Overtown - Hutchison via buyout

I assume Blantyre was KCB, but not sure and then there's Scotstoun and Dumbarton.

Possilpark was Glasgow Corporation from when it was built in 1951, then First until its closure in 2000.

I think there may have been one at Gavinburn Place, Old Kilpatrick as I remember the X64 terminating there (unsure if the garage closed by then or not) before it was combined with the Clydebank - Vale of Leven and Helensburgh services.

Scotstoun replaced Knightswood too.

I am unsure of Motherwell (maybe KCB?), which was along the main road that runs between Hamilton and Motherwell passing Junction 6 of the M74.

Blantyre replaced Motherwell (Airbles) in 2007 IIRC. Traction House was replaced by Airbles as a depot in 1962, with the former being retained as Central Scottish's head office and central works. Fairly certain it didn't last quite long enough to make it into First ownership, finally succumbing sometime during the KCB era (not got a precise date of full closure to hand, though am sure someone here will have).

Old Kilpatrick (Gavinburn) was closed in May 1996, a month before First bought Strathclyde/Kelvin's parent company.

The Scotstoun depot is built on the site of my first employer and 50 years later I now live on the redeveloped site that was Knightswood - spooky.
