I am still looking for a link I can post from a written source, but I heard on the radio this morning that First group have been fined a fairly large sum of money for failing to meet their franchise criteria in several areas.
These include:
Toilets on the trains,
Amount of litter on trains,
information etc.
I know first are judged by something called Squire? I have seen trains inspected, but I must admit that I have never seen excessive litter, poor toilets (expect maybe on the 314's and 320's
) on Scotrail so unless I am on the wrong parts of the network are Transport Scotland very harsh judges?
The only thing I do think Scotrail do very poorly is check tickets, I use them fairly frequently and I haven't been checked in the peak on the E&G line at all this year. Maybe they think they don't need to as most of the stations have barriers, or maybe it is just a curse of the 170's but if they think the trains are untidy they should try some of the operators south of the boarder!
Just found the links, the radio was not telling the whole story. ie the problem was more with the stations rather than the trains. I Wonder if Waverley and Glasgow Central are excluded
