I was in Norwich the other day observing the First operation which seems to be on the up compared to previously, and I note they’ve brought back the Eastern Counties name rather than calling it First Norfolk and Suffolk.

Anyway, I caught either an X1 or X11 from Norwich to the coast and the bus provided was an Enviro 400 in standard bus livery.

But it had tinted windows and unusual yellow and red leather seats.

Does anyone know what bus this was and what previous life it had to result in it having such an non standard specification.

Ex demonstrator, SN60 CAA - Fleet 33423 :)

Came to First pretty much as is if I recall, apart from having livery added on top of the plain white base.

Rather O.T., but a similarly specced ex-demo E400 (SN59 AWX) ended up with McGill's of Greenock as their 8960. Rather interesting how far and wide these demos are spread out after their 'guinea pig' days are over. :)

Out of interest are the X1, X2, X11, X22 routes run by Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft depots or a combination of two or all?

I know the Excel XL is run from Kings Lynn

Lost somewhere within Bank-Monument tube station,

The X1/X11 is mostly run by Yarmouth depot, though there are a few diagrams run by Lowestoft, ones which either start very early in the day or finish very late.

The X2/X22 is fully run by Lowestoft.

Hope this helps. :)
