A friend and his family from overseas are travelling to the UK soon.
During their short stay, they will be making a Saturday morning trip from King's Cross to Newcastle, then the following day, Newcastle to Aberdeen.
They are keen to try out the first-class experience on a UK train.
It seems LNER only have their DELI menu over the weekend, so I suggested catching LNER to York, then TPE to Newcastle. Would they get a breakfast on this service ?
They could get different tickets and take LNER from York, maybe even on the same train, or if they wanted to try out the lounge this could be done too. Trouble is, with a journey of only an hour, perhaps LNER wouldn't be serving food anyway.
Regarding their trip to Aberdeen, I suggested TPE to Edinburgh, then LNER to Aberdeen. There's no food on this TPE service, but it's a lot cheaper.
