It's normally the weekend service *but* on Christmas Eve VTEC despite charging weekend upgrade fees they still done pretty much their normal offering (the all day menu was offered but I think the evening meal, which requires a chef, was not offered) so for example you could get a steak pie.
Alcohol was available as per normal weekday availability.
If you don't get a definitive answer before then I'm travelling on Monday and can see for myself. If you need to know before then then VTEC Twitter team will be back tomorrow.

This is what VTEC have said on their website:
The usual First Class weekday catering offer will be available up to and including Friday 18 December, then again from Monday 4 January. In between, well be offering a simplified (but still delicious) breakfast and all-day menu with some special festive treats thrown in along the way.

This seems to imply to me that next week will be like this week. There'll be hot options and alcohol available.
If this is the case it will be a genuine improvement of the festive first offering by VTEC.
My advice:
If booking first class now be prepared for the possibility of the weekend offering.
If you're looking to upgrade on board we can tell you what to expect once we've sampled it ourself.
