I believe that a saver (off-peak) is cheaper than an open (peak), becaue the railway is trying to encourage people off overcrowded services onto
services with capacity.
Therefore doing this would achieve what the railway wants and is in no way stealing the revenue you try so hard to "protect".
So now the passenger has no right to pick any permitted route for his or her journey despite the fact that all ToCs will receive money from the ticket sale even if a day single ticket is sold at a time it is too late to complete the journey via one route?

Back on topic, the most ripped off I've ever felt in 1st was on a midday 450 from Soton to Waterloo,
rock hard 2+2 seats and no privacy, nothing special at all. Would have waited for the following wessex but was already late for my connection from KX. Sadly that was my last ever chance for a 442 as well
