So, I have a First Class fare from Norwich to London, this afternoon. I have noticed that this service is now down to an 8 coach train with first class reduced. From observations previously, this happens quite often.

Will this filter into the afternoon? If so, how can I ensure that I get a First Class seat? That is what I have paid for and I would be annoyed if I had to go into Standard.

Looks like there are 321s in the circuit that does the 14.00 Norwich to Liverpool St.

Assuming that stays the case, travel 30 minutes either side of that for a MkIII coach if your ticket allows. Even with 321s you should get a first class seat from Norwich at that time of day, but get there early to have first pick.

Sometimes first class reduced is simply one MkIII coach instead of two, in which case no problem from Norwich, but all the other issues, no reservations / accessible toilet imply this train today could be 321s if a hauled set doesn’t become available.

Just by looking at the GA website and having knowledge of the diagrams, which I assumed you had too if you already know your train this afternoon has reduced first class accommodation. That information isn’t yet on the website.

Look at train formation updates. The 11.30 Liverpool St to Norwich is 8 cars, no catering etc, but the next working (14.00 Norwich to Liverpool St) isn't mentioned yet.

Equally, out of vague curiosity, if the 14.00 up isn't your train, how do you know your train has reduced first class?

If the 08.00 from Norwich this morning only had one first class coach, then the next working is the 13.00 Norwich to Liverpool St followed by the 18.00 Norwich to Liverpool St. I trust that answers your question.
