Why are you so sure? They after all specced the 168s without any 1st class when they ordered them.

Because it would be an easy way to raise additional revenue by attracting extra passengers who would not ordinarily consider taking the train. For example, I would be very surprised if many of Beaconsfield's most affluent residents don't drive to London instead of being crammed like sardines on the train.

They said that when the First Class was taken out of the 165s. Since then Chiltern have had to build a multi storey car park at Beaconsfield station to accommodate the number of people who leave their car there.
