Noticed a bus on the '1' route heading to Beeston today. The standout of this particular bus was it was in a green and cream Yorkshire Rider livery.

I half expected it to be an 'old' bus, but it looked in keeping with the Gemini Eclipse range.

What's the sitch?

I'm pleased that First is honouring people involved in the past business in this way. It gives a sense of history and tradition in rapidly-changing times, and no doubt also gives the relatives of those honoured a sense of pride.

I was interested to recently see in Halifax Bus Station First Huddersfield & Calderdale's Gemini repainted in the old Halifax colours and named in memory of Geoffrey Hilditch [the one referred to by Scott Poole in his commentary on one of the above pictures].

I suspect that brought back memories of a great engineer and General Manager in the Halifax area in the 1960-70s.

Incidentally, I thought the old Halifax livery sat well on the modern dd.

I saw the Halifax one at Dewsbury Bus Rally earlier this month, and thought that looked good to. A photo is attached.

First have done a few South Yorkshire ones in traditional colours too.

Thank you for the photo.

The bus had passed me before I had chance to get my phone out!

They've done the same in Manchester.

One slight problem though is they've let the Lancashire United branded bus stray off the routes it's supposed to be on and there's a more recently established Lancashire United bus company. One day in January I saw a First Bus in historic Lancashire United livery on the same road in Manchester as an X41 bus operated by the present day Lancashire United - whoops!
