First bus in York query.

Are all the articulated buses gone or do some survive? If not what has replaced them or has another company taken over the routes?

Just curious as I am going there soon and heard the artics are going or gone.

The FTRs have gone to supplement the Leeds based ones on a roue between Leeds and Bradford. They've been replaced with single and double deckers from elsewhere.

The only bendies you'll see in York are the 14(?) Mercedes that operate on the Park and Ride services.

The route being the 72 which is going to get slightly more frequent (having already gone from being every 20 minutes for many years to every 7-8 minutes).

Thanks, I was under the impression all bendies had gone but it is not the case as the Merc's still survive here. Someone elsewhere said that Volvo B9 deckers from S Yorks (Olive Grove?) have replaced the FTR's.

A straight swap with Leeds (Bramley) would be more logical as all the other FTR's are there. Unless there is no more room at Bramley for FTR's?

Someone elsewhere said that Volvo B9 deckers from S Yorks (Olive Grove?) have replaced the FTR's

Some of the 07 plate Geminis from Rotherham's Midland Road garage moved to York (to replace the FTRs) - the batch mainly used on the X78 service.

The Geminis at Midland Road were replaced by marginally younger (08 plate) versions from Sheffield's Olive Grove (mainly those used on the 47/48 in Sheffield).

The lack of Geminis in Sheffield is apparently to be rectified by getting some five/six year old ones from Leeds (spared by the 98 "Olympic" buses that Leeds are getting).

So basically a swap round from Leeds to Sheffield to Rotherham to York to Leeds!
