. . . Prior to the closure of Firsby Station on the Boston–Grimsby line on 5 October 1970, was any consideration given by to resiting it onto the Skegness route via Thorpe Culvert, Wainfleet and Havenhouse, or moving it south of the Firsby triangle, or didn't B.R. consider the usage of Firsby enough to warrant this?
. . .From the captions to the pictures of Firsby in the "Disused Stations" website, certainly many trains to and from Skegness and further afield both started and terminated here, presumably the "New Line" trains did!
. . .Certainly the text on the "Disused Stations" site for Firsby suggests this was another important junction that warranted staff and facilities far in excess of what the local population of 150-200 would have supported – according to Wikipedia, it had enough facilities at its peak such as you might expect at somewhere like Lancaster or Blackburn!
