Firing up a Boiler from cold and from light steam

Please can someone give guidance on how long it takes to get a boiler up to "full steam" so it could pull a train?

(a) from light steam - having been kept in light steam overnight
(b) from cold

Having watched a very well known film I got the impression that from cold say 2 to 3 hours.

Depends on the size of the loco/boiler.
My experience is 060 tank engines. From cold about 5 hours. If it had steamed the previous day probably 2 or 3 if you were in a hurry.

The compressed air supply to the blower on one of the trio of "modern" Bagnall shunters built for Steel Company of Wales that we had was removed after some over enthusiastic use of it led to steam up in about 90 minutes but leaky tubes.
It has to be done slowly to allow everything to expand evenly otherwise you can have serious issues like warped tubeplates etc.
