According to the Evening Standard on 7/11 an incident occurred at Hackney Central, with a firework thrown into a crowded carriage.

A passenger apparently pulled the emergency handle, which reportedly opened the doors on the offside of the train, leading to passengers evacuating across the opposite line and climbing up onto the other platform. As the report states, "it was a miracle that no-one was seriously injured".

Can anyone who knows the LOROL units confirm how pulling the alarm opens the doors on the offside, especially when the train was already at a station with doors released on the platform side?

Sounds like the passenger operated the emergency door release handle (egress) rather than the passcom but then as you say this is according to the Evening Standard.......
