Fire in Camden Market

By the looks of things on Twitter, a fire has broken out in part of Camden Market, the Stables part from what I've seen.

Hope they get it under control quickly, the market is a brilliant place to go if you've got some money and some free time.

Very sad to see this. Looks to be around where some of the Asian food stalls or restaurants are as you enter on the right. They're all very close together and as you'd expect, narrow passageways must only add to the spread of flames.

I've only ever had to make my way out of The Stables quickly in an emergency once and it was a nightmare, I got lost and couldn't find a way out. Exits, to me, aren't signposted well enough. It seems nobody was injured which is good.

Hopefully it's only superficial damage and nothing like bigger fires of past.

Just realised, this is right under the spur from Camden Road station on Overground to the WCML. Fortunately firefighters have managed to stop it affecting the railway. Trains still ran despite a lot of thick smoke over the WCML.

Instead of putting '-LB-' in the TD berth, it says 'FIRE' on the OTT maps still at 02:30. Would that suggest there is still an emergency block or does the describer showing 'FIRE' just mean that it's open but is a reminder to the signaller? If it's a block, then it's still closed hours later.

LB generally means line blockage, so WML wouldn't put LB in there, as it could cause confusion. They wouldn't leave FIRE in the berths because if a train came through it would take that as it's head code/overwrite it anyway.

I would of guessed it didn't update properly, or it was still blocked

For 442s, BCON is preferred.

Jokes aside, it's relieving to see nobody got hurt and I hope the traders' livelihoods aren't affected - and if so, the losses can be recouped.

Line finally re-opened about 11:00 this morning, been told that the fire had affected some track circuits.

Mind you, not all the signal aspects or track circuit indications on OTT can be taken as reliable.
